OUR STORY
In 2013 while running a day program for civilians with chronic mental illnesses, Brenda Northey, was encouraged to design a program to help Veterans with mental health issues by a VAC Case Manager.
In 2019, Brenda established Operation Well-Being in Petawawa. However, in 2020, COVID hit and she was forced to close the clinic shortly after the third lockdown.
When the clinic was open, Veterans complained of two issues that were not addressed during their transitioning from the military to civilian life: purpose and a personal identity.
During COVID, Brenda developed a guided journal to help address those two areas. Hence, the book, "Operation Who Am I".
The framework for finding more meaning in one’s life is based upon Viktor Frankl’s logotherapy or meaning-based therapy. A loss of identity and/or purpose can lead to mental health issues.
We now offer two types of workshops. One is to help Veterans with chronic mental health issues (therapeutic) and the other is a pre-skills workshop (challenge) to help military veterans understand who they are before searching for their next career or job.
